Wetspace Noise Drips 4.0 + Walkin Lab

Wetspace Noise Drips 4.0 : A Gathering for Sonic Experimentation
Venue: Forplay Society, Mattancherry
Dates: 24 December – 4 January
Wetspace Noise Drips 4.0 is the fourth iteration of an evolving platform dedicated to experimental sound, noise, and multichannel sonic practices hosted by Cynk Collective. Over the past three editions, Wetspace has grown through collaborative methods, testing, rehearsing, and shaping ideas collectively. This edition carries forward all those learnings, deepening the commitment to shared exploration and spatial sound-making. By setting up a multichannel system, we open a shared space where rehearsing, composing, and performing unfold fluidly. This year Wetspace 4.0 brings together artists working with DIY electronics, custom synthesizers, computer-based systems, site-responsive sound, cross-disciplinary performance, and photography.

While Wetspace has always centered on collaborative performance, Walkin Lab adds an essential dimension, collective making. It brings together 8+ artists from diverse contemporary practices including VR, AI, electronics, coding, sculpture, and performance. This convergence creates a shared environment where skill exchange, experimentation, and hybrid thinking take shape.
The Lab is designed as:
-
A peer-learning space where artists learn from one another through doing.
-
A community-building platform that brings artists together through dialogue and practice.
-
A living gallery where anyone can walk in, witness the process, and engage with the space.
-
A space in constant flux, where ideas develop through shared practice.
-
Multiple mini-projects run simultaneously, enabling spontaneous collaborations and cross-pollination. The outcomes range from prototypes, experiments, and installations to audiovisual concerts and collective performances developed during the residency.
Vision:
To nurture a thriving experimental arts ecosystem by connecting makers & experimental collectives, fostering collaboration, and making experimentation as valued as outcomes.
Objectives:
-
Community Building: Cultivate a network of builders, thinkers, and performers across sound, technology, performance, and new media.
-
Shared Practice: Integrate diverse experimental disciplines into collaborative projects and practices.
-
Experimentation: Provide a platform where risk-taking, curiosity, and innovation are celebrated.
-
Sustained Collaboration: Enable long-term artistic relationships and collective growth.
-
Ecosystem Strengthening: Build a sustainable foundation for experimental arts in the region.
